The Okotoks Agricultural Society is the oldest ongoing agricultural society in Western Canada with a history of providing the community with a top quality agricultural forum since 1892. Back then, Okotoks was called Dewdney and Alberta was part of the North West Territories. In 1905, Dewdney became the town of Okotoks and the Sheep Creek Agricultural Society, as it was known then, became the Okotoks Agricultural Society.
Today, the vision of the founding members - to create...
"a society with a broad base of agricultural support, with a first class facility, properly operated and properly maintained"
– continues to serve as the guiding principal of the membership. Through the energy, dedication and expertise of past and present members of the Okotoks Agricultural Society, the facility has been developed and expanded over the years to become the high-quality, multi-use facility that we have today - the Okotoks Agriplex.
